The Metropolitan Cathedral of Timișoara
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Timișoara is the largest religious edifice in Timișoara, the cathedral of the Metropolis of Banat, dedicated to the "Three Hierarchs". It was built between 1936 and 1941 and is a symbol of the city. With a height of 90.5 m, it is currently the second tallest church in Romania after the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation, the future patriarchal cathedral in Bucharest.
Unirii Square in Timișoara
Piața Unirii is the oldest historical market in Timișoara, decorated in baroque style. Throughout its history, the square has also been called Hauptplatz (Main Square), Domplatz (Dom Square) and Losonczy Square (after the comite Ștefan Losonci, killed in 1552 when the citadel was conquered by the Turks). The name Piața Unirii was given to it in 1919, because the Romanian troops that entered Timișoara stopped here.

Piața Victoriei, formerly Piața Operei, is one of the central squares of the municipality of Timișoara, the place where Timișoara was proclaimed the first free city in Romania on December 20, 1989. At the opposite poles of the square are the Metropolitan Cathedral to the south, and to the north the Cultural Palace, with the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater and the Opera House. From the Opera towards the Cathedral, the promenade on the right is called "Corso", and the one on the left "Surrogate".
