The Old Prefecture Palace, also called the "Baroque Palace", is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Timișoara. The characteristics of the construction favored its choice for the function of an art museum, the spaces offered by the building can be adapted with minimal changes to the exhibition requirements of contemporary museography.
Thus, on the one hand, the location in a central and vast space of the historical core of the city favors the polarization of visitors' interest, and on the other hand, the architectural specificity makes possible the functional diversity imposed by the museum program and the emphasis of the concordance between the building and its new destination.
